[DeTomaso] Camber Bar / Dip Stick Questions

Yesterday, I went to look a my sister's 1980s vintage MBZ which she got from
our mother a few months ago. The car was leaking oil but the oil light did
not come on, so she did not bother to check the dip stick.

Yeah, you can pretty much guess the rest of it.

She ran it dry then refilled it, but now it makes expensive noises. She
sold it yesterday afternoon for half of blue book (with full disclosure.)

Mark -- some of my best friends are dipsticks

A friend has a 1973 Porsche 911, and it has an oil level gauge on the dash,
in lieu of a dipstick, from new. So it's not exactly a new idea.

It's a nice idea to have an oil level gauge (which is calibrated so it is
correct only when the engine is running), but I would want to have a
dipstick
ALSO.

Mike (been let down by dipsticks before, when the car suddenly started
consuming oil and I failed to check it!)
