[DeTomaso] radiators

I purchased a Valeo radiator from   http://www.radiators.com/techTips.php for 
another car.  The core was 1 3/8 vs the 1 5/8 for the old factory radiator.  
Can not tell what type of material since it is painted black and the old one 
looks aluminum.  Customer service just tells you whatever sounds good and is a 
factory replacement.  Has anyone had any experience with a valeo radiator?  It 
lists for the same price as the factory but sells anywhere from 20 to 40% 
less.  Just seems the thicker the core is, the better it is.  Can't get the side 
tank for the old radiator to repair it says the repair shop.
