Andy and Dave,

I am about 6 months into the Pantera ownership experience and can say that this forum has made my experience so much better and easier that I can only say "THANKS VERY MUCH" for your time, energy and knowledge in keeping this forum running. Mike is right we do take the forum for granted...I expect to see it every day and I look very much forward to getting it. Thanks again!

A little research on that company which the URL links to reveals that:

A company who themselves are skeptical AND....
  Quote:
The Lavoisier Group is a global warming skeptic organisation, based
in Australia. It argues that the evidence for global warming is based
on inexact science and that any policy responses, such as signing the
Kyoto Protocol, would be too expensive for Australia's industry.

The group is closely associated with the Australian mining industry,
and was founded in 2000 by Ray Evans, then an executive at Western
Mining Corporation (WMC), who was also involved in founding the HR
Nicholls Society and the Bennelong Society. Hugh Morgan, former WMC
boss and head of the Business Council of Australia until 2005,
  delivered the group's inaugural speech.

Lavoisier is a fairly small operation, with under 100 members and an
  annual budget of around $10,000.
  Unquote.

So, you can now be skeptical about the skeptics!

And no sooner than I sent those links to some friends, I get a
response from a friend of mine (damn.... another engineer)....

  I see...

The greenhouse effect is now "orthodox" and saying it ain't so is the
  new rebellion?

I got a hypothetical question for ya...

You have a house high on the side of a hill with a very nice lawn on the
down slope side forming part of your view. You water the lawn every
  day
and fertilise, mow, and top dress regularly. One day you notice a
  crack in
your bathroom wall and call in an engineer to evaluate. He tells
  you that
if you keep watering your lawn your house will eventually slide down the
hill and that it may in fact already be too late. All your friends
  say we
love your lawn and your view and you've been watering for twenty
  years so it
just can't be watering the lawn that caused your wall to crack. You
  also
love your lawn because it adds to your feeling of comfort and well being
where you live. You have no proof that the engineer was right in his
  assessment.

  So...

What do you do? Let your lawn die or keep watering and hope the
  engineer
  was wrong?

  Just asking....

If the government is so certain global warming is raising our sea
levels, why do they keep spending millions in New Orleans that is
already 8 feet below sea level?

I think most of the hot air originates in Washington DC. A study would
probably reveal that global warming is in direct proportion to
  government growth.

I am currently replacing my clutch and have the opportunity while the ZF
is out to finally modify the ZF mounting brackets to enable an easier
  removal of the ZF.

There has been reference to such a kit on the forum. I would appreciate
some advice on who offers such a kit, who has installed the
modifications and their opinion of the kit, and some pictures that show
  what has to be done.

With the ZF ready to go back in, I would appreciate any input as soon as
possible. I can be reached at my email address or on my cell phone,
  404-964-7396.

  Thanks.

  Hey Nick,

Thanks for the link...But...I have to agree with John on this one...
  The ELP @ $15,000-$19,000 is a crazy price !
My whole setup cost less than half that...including the furniture..
(stands etc.) it sits on !

Plus you will need the "Declicker" noise reduction box @ $2,800 !
  http://laserturntable.com/purchase/declicker.php<http://laserturntable.com/purchase/declicker.php>
(BTW...a very bad name choice in my opinion :-)

Don't get me wrong..it's a cool idea...but just too pricey.

My one and only comment. When climatologist are able to predict what the

predictions of what they think will happen 100 years from know seriously.

Got a kick out of this---worth a look.

   A FUNNY ELEVEN MINUTES!!

President Bush deserves a lot of credit for being able to
laugh at himself. It doesn't matter which party you support. This is really
entertaining! On April 29, 2006, at the 2006 White House Correspondents
Dinner, Bush invited a Bush impersonator named Steve Bridges to share the
dais with him. The premise was that the impersonator was Bush's conscience,
interpreting Bush's words with what he really meant. A 20-second sound and
video bite hit the newscasts, but this is the whole enchilada.

  Art,
I had the same problem nearly 3 yrs. ago and a friend had the problem this
summer. Here is what we did:

Disconnect both ends of the cable.
Pull out the inside cable (not the sheath). I used a rag to wipe the cable
as I was removing the cable from under the dash. You have a lot of cable to
pull out; I used a 5 gallon bucket and wound the cable around the inside of
  the bucket.

  >From the trans axle fitting, I shot WD40 into the sheath. Seal the input
point for the WD40 so the pressure runs through the jacket/sheath. Put a
bottle or can as a fluid catch (tape the cable sheath to the container) and
let the WD flow until the sheath is clean.

Clean up the cable. You need to dissolve the grease on the cable.

You can buy a tube of speedo cable lubricant. I used white lithium grease.
Coat the cable while feeding the cable into the sheath at the trans axle.
Put the grease on the cable as you are feeding the cable into the sheath.
The last 4-5 feet became had to feed. I got my variable speed drill, hooked
it to the end of the cable and slowly turned the cable with forward pressure
and it went through the bind with no problem.

  Reconnect cables

This worked for us. If your sheath is damaged this fix will be short lived.
For us, we had dried hard grease and maybe no grease in some areas, Knock on
wood, we are both in good shape.

Before pulling out the old cable and buying a new one, I would give the
above a try. It is really simple and takes maybe an hour the first time. I
think it took longer getting the supplies, bucket, catch can, etc. ready for
the repair than the repair itself. If you try it, let me know how it worked
  out.

The speedo is relatively easy to disassemble and inspect. If you are
mechanically inclined, go for it. Feel free to call me if you get stuck.

  Mike,

Look at fig. 6 on page 11 of the ZF manual. There should be two threaded holes in the iron piece. All stud/bolt holes are naturally non-threaded. The holes I refer to will have threads. They are used during disassembly of the trans.

I have the so called Nascar 6 piston in front wilwood setup on my car.
I can tell you they have never failed, faded or shaken.... some say way
too much for the car but I always want a little more....

I would like to point out that the aluminum hats do tend to wear more
so you need to tighten them more frequently.... not too much... loose is
better than too tight according to my suspension expert. I do tend to push
  the car
more than most and always seem to have the race tires on... Have the spare
set of street tires collecting dust.

Chuck I will have to check my original window sticker if I can remember where
  it is.

As far as floor tracks for seats.... I took them out and dropped the seat
  down on
the deck with the carpet cut out and as far back as possible... if someone
  can't
  reach the pedals tough luck

See you at the track in Vegas

Bob (don't need no pills yet but feeling old) Benson

As you may have noticed, the mailing lists and archives that I host on
realbig.com went off the air earlier this week, and are only just now
  beginning to become available again.

The dedicated server upon which I host the lists suffered a disk failure,
crashed, and became un-bootable. The disk was replaced that day, but the list
and archive software and data were not recovered.

I had the old disk sent to me and set about recovering the software and data.
As of this moment, the lists and web sites are back up, but the archives
(several hundred thousand files) are still being restored. I expect that to
take roughly another day, so hopefully they'll be once again available by the
  end of Monday.

  Thanks for your patience.

granted, forgetting that there are human beings behind the scenes who have to work,
