Ken,

When you wanted the right car you got a Pantera. Now you want the right
camera, get a good Nikon. I bought my D-70 package when they first came out
(3 years now?) I paid like $1200 for the body, 2 Lenz and case. This has
been the best camera I have ever had. Yes, I was a Nikon film guy before.

Things the D-70 does well:

It turns on real fast.

It does not kill the battery if left on. I had it on for a week and still
shot all day.

I will get around 1,000 shots (a months worth) on one battery charge.

Will save photos in the RAW format (big and fat no compression)

Little or no delay in shooting.

Fast auto focus. Nikon makes the best glass lenses around.

Has a point and click mode so anyone can use it.

They have come out with a few new models that are lower in price. Go to a
local camera shop and rent one for a day. It is the Pantera of cameras.

Time to update, Because of the delay in my present camera, I took a lot of
pictures of the rear ends of cars, LOL. I'd like something which:

  1) about 10X digital zoom

  2) minimum delay in capturing image

  3) image stabilization

  4) 6+ M Pix

I think think the DSLRs do all this, but I'm not sure I want to spend $600
on a camera if the technology is still evolving rapidly.

Maybe an Olympus SP-510 UZ or a Canon S3 IS?

  Ken
