[DeTomaso] sorta NPC, Suggestions for digital cameras?

Time to update, Because of the delay in my present camera, I took a lot of pictures of the rear ends of cars, LOL.  I'd like something which:
   
  1)  about 10X digital zoom
   
  2)  minimum delay in capturing image
   
  3)  image stabilization
   
  4) 6+ M Pix
   
  I think think the DSLRs do all this, but I'm not sure I want to spend $600 on a camera if the technology is still evolving rapidly.
   
  Maybe an Olympus SP-510 UZ or a Canon S3 IS?
