My 70 1/2 Torino Sport Roof was driven hard and put away wet from new to 144k miles without heads ever being removed. In fact the 4V 351C still has never had new timing gears and chain. Yes I was lucky, but a rebuild prior to 40k would seem unnecessary on cars that aren't even getting 10k miles a year.
