Recently I was looking to move 5 of my toys from their current
insurance company to another company. The current company has
made some changes that I really don't care for in their billing
process and I was looking for a new home for the 3 Panteras and 2
more of my toys. Did a Hagerty on line quote on the simplest of
the cars and followed it up with a phone call to their national
number. Things were progressing swimmingly until I mentioned that
2 of the cars were Nitrous equipped. They will not handle Nitrous
equipped cars under any conditions. Levered the Quote into some
viable concessions from my current agent.<br>

Oh well,<br>

Well.... it would seem that Hagerty has some "feelers" into the
DeTomaso email forum.<br>
<br>
I got an unsolicited phone call from them today. The person who
spoke with me had seen an email trail... and mentioned "Mike
Drew." I don't think Mike was the source, but that was the clue
they probably have eyes into this list. It's the -only- place
I've made any comment, and as I recall... never mentioned their
name, until now. Of course Mike Drew hit the nail on the head
when he said I'd been "Hagerty'ed."<br>
<br>
Anyway... they wanted to make sure I understood why the change was
so big and wanted to ask me questions about the "modifications,"
probably to see if they could re-classify it as stock in order to
reduce my yearly cost. Well, it seems 50 HP over stock may be the
magic number (not to mention my other mods). There was no dispute
that it classified as a modified vehicle.<br>
<br>
Then he talked about possible rate reductions if I increased my
deductible. Let's just say what was offered would have taken me
20 years to save in order to meet the deductible. Umm... oh heck,
it was take $50 of the yearly rate if you go with a $1,000
deductible. Gee, really???? WOW! .... no thanks, I can do math
in my head.<br>
<br>
I think I'll just get quotes from some of the others insurance
vendors. Since I know Hagerty will probably get a copy of this...
um... yea... they need to offer me a sweeter deal than that.<br>

Possibly. -that- as Mike pointed out, was the primary factor
that increased the value. When I said the modified engine was
maybe 50 HP more than stock, he said that qualified for
"modified." And then there was the non-stock radiator,
non-stock shocks...<br>

I recently changed the policy on my Pantera. I'm

The surprise in all this is that my cost for the

Have you reviewed -your- policy recently to make
