[DeTomaso] Silicone Fuel Filler Hose

Silicone hose is porous and not recommended for fuel or oils. Why not just get the gates rubber hose everyone else uses?

Is silicone air hose OK for filler hose?  I think the intended use is an air hose for turbo plumbing.
