[DeTomaso] Road America weekend 1

 I always go to the historic races at Road America but after almost 40 years my enthusiasm has begun to wane.  I was close to not attending this year.
Turned out to be a fantastic weekend with the unexpected surprise to find John and Mary Taphorn and Mike and Lori Drew there.  It had been several years since I last saw them and really enjoyed catching up.  
For the record Mike's mention of meeting up with us incorrectly called my wife Tina.  Her name is Dena.  I want to mention it in case someone thinks I got divorced and lost all my cars in the settlement (although "Tina" may have been well worth it) :).

Lori and I made a last minute decision to fly to Chicago and drive to Elkhart Lake to spend the weekend with John and Mary Taphorn. John had recently purchased a Chevron Formula Atlantic from Gray Gregory, and he is also hear to offer coaching.

Here is John discussing things with Gray’s mechanic after his second run:




Steve Lisa is also here, driving the Pantera this year.






John’s learning curve has been steep. He knocked  full five seconds off his lap time between the first and second run, and another five seconds after that.



Gray and John debriefed his GoPro video in the motor home afterwards:



We also have been able to spend time with Tom Shinrock and Tina who drive up from Cedar Rapids.
