This 1986 GT5-S DeTomaso Pantera is one of approximately 138 GT5-S models built in the late 1980s with factory steel wheel-arch flares and a molded steel front spoiler. Only 38 to 40 made it to the US. It was imported by Stoeffer in Fl. Leather interior, and power is provided by a Ford 351ci Cleveland V8, paired with a ZF five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes black split bumpers, 17″ wheels, Wilwood Nasar four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, adjustable coil overs, with new urethane bushings, Ferrari suspension, each wheel is independent and adjustable, new air conditioning pump, power windows, and a AM/FM/CD stereo. Everything is new or has been rebuilt. suspension has been power coated. A 950-carburetor double pumper. Rear Wing, custom low profile headlight bezels. All new tires. New brake booster and master cylinder. 2” Lowered floor panes, a gear-reduction starter, new radiator and fans. an MSD ignition system, large alternator, ext.
1986 DeTomaso Pantera GT5-S
The Ghia-designed bodywork was revised for the GT5 iteration of the Pantera starting in 1980 with wider fiberglass fender flares and a fiberglass front spoiler. This example is one of a reported 183 GT5-S models built between 1985 and 1989 with integrated steel fender flares and a molded steel front spoiler. Painted red. Additional features include black split bumpers in front, black moldings and trim, and quad exhaust tips exiting below the rear fascia. adjustable coil overs on all four corners. ZF Five-Speed Manual Transaxle, Ferrari suspension.
The cabin is trimmed in tan leather with black carpets and tan door panels, as well as woodgrain trim on the dash, doors, and center console. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows, and a AM/FM/CD stereo.
The three-spoke Momo steering wheel fronts Veglia Borletti instruments consisting of a 200 mile per hour speedometer and a tachometer, and gauges for oil temperature and oil pressure. Gauges in the center stack display amperage, fuel level, and water temperature and are mounted above clock.
Engine. This car was fitted with a 351ci Cleveland engine with Aluminum high rise Performer intake manifold, Ozzy heads polished and ported, a Holley 950-cfm four-barrel carburetor, a MSD distributor, an eight-quart oil pan with doors in it to run high banked circle track like Pocono speed way, but this car has not run on a track. It has an engine oil cooler; the car never gets above 170 degrees even with air on. Additional equipment includes dual electric radiator cooling fans, GTS-style tubular exhaust headers, and a GTS ANSA exhaust system. ZF five-speed manual transaxle, center force twin-disc clutch.
