Doug is spot on, it's a resistor for the blower motor.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Mystery Wire Harness
Name that wire! Attached is a photo of a small wire harness which I removed
from my car back in '20 during the teardown. I thought it had something to
do with the AC system, but since my AC has never been functional, I was not
sure and didn't identify the harness when it went into a box. The black
wires are 12 gage and the yellow wire is a heavier 10 gage.
It is not obvious on the wiring diagram I have which Doug Braun created and
laminated some years ago, and he is not sure what it is either. His guess
it that it has something to do with the heater fan and the 'coil' is some
sort of resistor for the fan speed.
Can someone please help me out here so I know where this goes?
Thanks
Mike Thomas
