[DeTomaso] Belt question

It is difficult for me to determine what you mean, I sort of understand conceptually, but without seeing it in person I can't quite picture it.
I guess my main question is, can I drive my car the way it is?

I am not comfortable with that heater hose routing as shown in your photographs.
I also have the flat firewall kit. As these two photos will show, my heater hoses leave the engine block, stay high and do a wide loop out beyond the alternator, and then travel underneath the alternator and compressor to enter the center tunnel area.

I used 5/8” silicone hose and LOVE it. Excellent flexibility and I actually eliminated the piping in the center tunnel and ran silicone hose all the way up to the heater.
If you like how I routed my hose, you don’t necessarily have to remove the hose currently installed. You can buy some plastic couplers to attach to your existing hoses; then just couple them to new hose for attaching at the engine.
