There are smart chargers available that have a desulfating program, not sure how much life they restore to a dead battery, but some unit's ratings are pretty positive.

It depends on how long the battery has been dead. If a good battery goes dead overnight because you left the lights on and you charge it up the next day, its good to goBut if it sits dead for a month the plates get sulfated up and the battery is ruined. It might seem OK for a bit but it will leave you stranded somewhere.

A NOCO Genius battery charger was able to charge a battery that
appeared dead.

Well Damn! So, I pulled the Battery out, put it on the Charger, the
gauge went to about 9. it was on the Charger about 4 hours, the gauge
was now at 4. Reinstall and Click, Click, Click again! Crap, then I
saw
the little sticker on the side of the Battery 9/11! LOL Seemed like
only yesterday I got the damn thing, Well Crap, has it been that
long!
So, a trip to Costco in the Morning! Well, I guess I got my Money's

Still a Nice day! Check your Batteries! LOL
