[DeTomaso] What is this hole designed for?

At first glance it reminds me of a DB-25 connection through-hole. But 
why would that exist in a car like this?  I don't recall anything like 
that in my '73, so it was probably phased out by then.

That's a good one.  Maybe Les might know?
