[DeTomaso] Fuel tank ventilation - fuel spill

Hello Hartwig,

in my experience with cars that do not have the charcoal canister, the vent
hose first goes up. Higher than the fuel tank, sometimes as high as the
roof of the car. And then come back down to a safe place if fuel happens to
come out. Mostly behind the rear wheels.

Greetings from Belgium,
Jochen

     A A Hi Mike,
A A Yes, my tank is wrapped in fibreglass. The car is from 1971
     (VIN 1571).
A A When I bought the car it had the canister installed but there
     was no
A A vent hose connected to it and I removed theA canister. The tank
     vent is
A A connected to a simple rubber tube that goes straight in front
     of the
A A left aftA wheel. From the beginning I had noticed that the
     first
A A quarter (fuel gauge) empties quite quickly. I always thought
     that this
A A is due to the ItalienA non-precision instruments installed but
     it seems
A A that my car is equipped with a fuel jettisonA system. Should I
     go back
A A to the canister setup or is there a smarter way?
     A A Cheers

     that
A A A canister to the engine, although at the moment I canat quite
A A A remember what the scheme was. Was the engine also vented to
     the

A A A In any case, if you disconnect the vent hose from the

A A A My car had an aluminum 1971 tank in it and used to dump fuel
     all the
A A A time. I discovered that the top of the tank where the vent
     is
A A A attached was very thin, and it was distorted by the

A A A rivets, preventing a proper seal. As the vent is below the
