[DeTomaso] Best Door Covering Adhesive?

Ken,

The standard go to is of course contact cement. The old standby.

However in my adventures with reattaching OEM upholstery, I have come to believe the road to failure is to leave any traces of the original adhesive on either surface. 

Contact cement just doesn’t seem to want to contact itself to 50 year old contact cement. 

Scrape scrape scrape to get as clean as possible and attempt adhesion when the proper tackiness happens
