Thanks Gray,
I worked it out with Susan. I normally pick her up at the airport, but if she drives, I can make Sunday.
I’d love to make the whole weekend, but it’s not going to work out.
See you there.
Steve – I’ll look for you too. Good luck.
Will.

Will,
I'm surprised it's to late to buy tickets, but it will be no problem to get them at the gate. I would say the best way to get the true Daytona 24 experience would be to camp at the track but there are lots of hotel options nearby.
As with any vintage event the tickets offer full paddock access and there are no reserved seats so you are free to roam around and see the track from any spot you can find.
The Classic 24 will start at 1:00pm on Saturday and run for 24hrs. the Sprint races will be held at various times on Friday and Saturday morning.
Hope that answers your questions and I hope to see you there!
Gray

Hi Gray,
Any suggestions on how to spectate the race? I.e. When to show up. Where to go. Etc.
It looks like it's too late to buy tickets, so I'll have to buy at the gate.
Most likely, it'll just be me. Susan will need to stay home with the dogs. They don't kennel very well.
It should go without saying, but if you need anything, let me know. I'll help however I can.
Will.

I will be there with my 74 Chevron B26 running classic 24 group B. We will be in one of the blue garages behind the pre grid.
This is a great event! All you Florida guys looking for something to do next weekend should definitely come check it out.
Hope to see some of you there,
Gray

Well, the Pantera is finished, polished, and ready to go to Daytona. The Panoz is likewise heading into the trailer as this posts.
If you listen near the end, you can hear me say "that is my most valuable racecar" -- which, while subject to debate among the team members, is truly how I feel. I am really proud to race it.
Thanks, Mike Finnegan, for the video!
As always, we also want to thank everyone on this forum that so quickly responds with answers to our surprisingly still naive questions. The amount of knowledge available here is amazing. It makes owning a Pantera "reasonably" painless 😋 If any of the Pantera crowd is in Daytona next week - please feel free to stop by. We will be parked out by the lake with our big rig and tent.
I will try to keep everyone posted as best I can this weekend. In the meantime, here is the link to the event:
I have attached the official schedule. The Pantera is running in the HSR sprint races in Group 5, subclass F3 (FIA Group 3), of which I think we are the only one:
- Group 5: Historic Big-Bore Production. Production sports & GT cars
1960-1974. Examples: GT350, Cobra, Camaro, Boss 302, Corvette C2/3),
Jaguar XKE, Porsche 911 RS, RSR, Street Stock A, etc. (treaded tires).
Certain similar sports racers included on a case-by-case basis.
So far, the Pantera's competition includes mostly Porsche 911 RSR models from 69-74.
The Panoz Esperante GT2 is racing in the Classic 24, Group F (Modern Prototype/GT era: ‘00 – ‘18). We are in class F3 for (FIA/IMSA/GrandAm
GT1/GT2/GS3). The main competition for the Pantera is ex-Grand AM
Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, BMW M3, and Corvette C5 race cars.
Theoretically, we have 4 sessions per day, 2 each for each car, and the final Pantera race is Saturday morning, before the start of the 24-hour race. Tony and I will be alternating in both cars all weekend so that we
both get to drive both cars. If all goes well, the Pantera is NOT running
the 24-hour race this year. However, if the Panoz takes a crap before the 24-hour starts, and the Pantera is still alive and running, we may end up running the Pantera in the 24-hour.
Just the HSR Sprint event, alone, has nearly four hours of practice, qualifying, qualifying races, and the main race. We will be thrilled if the Pantera makes it through that much racing.
Anyway, you can probably get the results from the website link.
Thanks all, and hope to see some of you down in Daytona.
Regards,
Steven G. Lisa, Esq.
