[DeTomaso] Installing the rear support shaft bearings

I made this tool using an old pivot shaft, a piece of all-thread, a washer, a couple of nuts and a little grinding.
The notch in the washer is there to help seat the bushing without hitting the little thrust washer dowel in the upright.
The old pivot shaft keeps the new bushings plumb and in line while they are tapped into place with a hammer. I used a block of wood with a hole bored in in it to support the upright and receive the end of the driver.
It worked vey well. Happy to send it out if it will help.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Installing the rear support shaft bearings

What is the proper method to install the lower support shaft bearings in the
rear uprights? Adam Quella mentioned to me some sort of bearing press I
could get from Harbor Fright tools but I don't find anything that looks like
it will do what I need.

Thanks

Mike Thomas
