[DeTomaso] [EXTERNAL] Gr4 Pantera at Le Mans video

Terry,

The front end of the car is subject to lift when the hood is latched—it lifts the whole car up at speed. When it’s unlatched the hood aerodynamically floats, with equal pressure above and below. This is why it raises higher when the airspeed is higher. 

The guys who ran Silver State would prop the front hood up a fixed amount and some ran with the decklid unlatched. The decklid would also float, preventing rear-end lift. 

Things got interesting when the car spun 180-degrees....
