I think they did it intentionally, it's just another one of their forward-thinking styling cues...

Anastase Mantas "manager personal organization of artists- cinema-television-theatre-music hall" read as "spent the late 70's in a drug induced haze that led to dubious styling decisions associated with a wanton waste of one's money".

It also solidifies the theory that Alejando De Tomaso would do anything for a buck, even to his own friends....

This car was for sale on Hemmings for the longest while, but without all the back story, I wonder if someone went to the effort of piecing it all together in hopes of a big payday.
