I 'helped' the buyer decide to dig deep to buy this car. He told me today it's even nicer than he expected it to be. 

Quality cars will always demand 'too high' bids from discriminating buyers who know what they want and can afford to buy the best.  In this case, he may have paid a bit more than it was objectively worth today, but the market will catch up at some point, and in the meantime he gets to enjoy the car now. 

Chris has a spectacular collection of cars. He is primarily known for his vintage race exploits. He races an original GT40, Dan Gurney's Targa Florio 289 Cobra Shelby team car, Nikki Lauda's F-1 championship-winning Ferrari 312, Jaguar D-type, Gulf Mirage, Gulf Porsche 917, etc etc etc. all over the world. He also has a tidy collection of street cars. I facilitated the sale of a 4-headlight Mangusta to him some years ago too.

He is a super, super guy, and always makes time to talk to Pantera guys in the pits in Monterey, Le Mans, Daytona etc.  He hasn't owned a Pantera for many years, but he had an L-model way back when that was his wedding getaway car....
