I agree. Its quite possible to shift the entire powertrain backwards 4", redo the rear firewall etc and be done, without redesigning the whole car. Or use one of Larry Stock's one piece fiberglas bodies. Likely either would have been cheaper, too. Too bad- if the owner was a regular on any of the forums, this may not have happened.

  They took what was probable the most rust free stock Pantera in North
  America and destroyed it.  I'm sure that the finished car will probably
