[DeTomaso] How to ID Aussie heads??

There are also a couple of exterior differences that will allow you to spot Aus heads bolted to an engine.
First, the outboard stand alone head bolt boss has a square head, all USA heads, 2v or 4v versions, have a round head.
Second, all USA heads have extra material in the casting below the outbound rocker cover rail and corresponding extra thickness leading towards the ends of the intake manifold face to allow for drilling of the head to create the passages and ports for the air injection to exit through the little bumps in the exhaust ports.
Aus heads do not have the little bumps in the exhaust ports.

Larry,

It’s super simple. Aussie heads have the quench combustion chambers (same as early US 4V heads) but the smaller 2V port size (same as all US 2V heads).
