Michael,

You’re in England which complicates matters greatly. You aren’t supposed to be working on your own car—it’s seen as undignified! Thus parts are difficult to come by. 

Over here, drain plugs can be had slightly oversized to compensate for a stripped-out hole, which is the situation you are almost assuredly facing. I imagine it would be next to impossible to find such a thing there. 

Confirm that your existing plug threads are okay and I can dispatch an oversized one. Alternately, you can use yellow plumbers tape and build up the diameter of your existing plug, which might work?
