[DeTomaso] Dropped Battery Box - Real Benefits?

I know I have a hard enough time getting my battery out when I need to and
it is not sunken.

At my age I suspect I would have an even tougher time if it were sunken :-)

Are there any other benefits of dropping the battery in the front trunk
(there, I said it . . .) other than lowering the center of gravity at the
front of the car and opening up space in that area?
