I had a guy that worked for me at the fire department that used to drive the unloaded Pantera's off the warf in Long Beach. Mike is right. My friend and his buddy would race those "brand new" Pantera's down the dock.

I have a neighbor who says he worked at the Dearborn Rouge plant during the Pantera years. He says his job was to drive them off of train cars onto car haulers for delivery to dealers.

They arrived fully operational (or at least as fully operational as 1970's cars were).

Yes, Dealers did do a bunch of Dash-1 replacements with dash-2 gearboxes, and that would require removal and installation of the engine. But that was only done at dealerships, not the Mustang assembly plant!
