[DeTomaso] Heater Box Disassembly

Tearing down my heater box to restore it and am stuck.  How do I remove the
cabin heat 'flaps' from the actuator rods in the picture?  There do not
appear to be any set screws to loosen.  Do I just need to apply a little
penetrating oil and tap them off of the rod?
