And regardless of what anyone (and everyone) will you, this is the correct orientation of the squirrel cage fan blades because the blades are actually wings which generate lift.  I tested it both ways when I replaced mine and found it generates more flow when the blades are mounted as illustrated below.



Also, I found that when I installed the replacement 3-speed blower motor I only needed the 'high' and 'low' speeds.  I didn't bother to wire it to use the 'med' speed because the difference between medium and the other speeds is not significant, and even on 'low' the interior of my car will get and stay too cold with the AC on.
