[DeTomaso] 6328 Resto Files - The Wiring Wall

Chuck,

Wiring harness maintenance is very similar to the standard maintenance all responsible owners perform on coolant and oiling systems.

Those systems require clean and tight connections and component replacement, on occasion, of filters, thermostats/sensors and maintenance of proper fluid levels. However, regular maintenance does not require the removal of any of the permanent system components.

The wiring harness has similar requirements, and thus very seldom is removal required. A correctly functioning wiring harness does require all wiring connectors to be clean and tight, and when electrons fail to play nicely with others blown fuses will need to be replaced. As 0EM wire harness smoke is not known to deteriorate over time, smoke transfusions are not proactively required. But, maintenance of proper smoke levels is critical.

In conclusion, Chuck, I do not believe you need to worry about wire harness removal or smoke transfusions. But, just as responsible owners retain a supply of replacement oil and coolant, a bottle of OEM Lucas wire harness smoke should be on every owner’s garage shelf for those rare instances of leakage that requires replacement.

I hope this will help set your mind at ease.

Larry
