[DeTomaso] 6328 Resto Files - The Wiring Wall

I had my harness out when I first bought my car. Found several badly oxidized connectors and wires, a few melted/burnt wires and two fuses (12ga wire at both ends joined in the middle by a 20ga wire from the factory. Lucas is the prince of darkness.

Fixed those issues, bridged the amp meter terminals with a large gauge wire and installed a Mitsubishi (as I remember) fuse block from Marino and haven't had any electrical issues at all in the last 18ys.

Dear Larry,

I know you are a master of electricity and I am an ignoramus with flowing electons and volts, but I am not sure about what you mean by proper maintenance.

Are you saying that I should remove, inspect and replace my wiring harness routinely or that I need to perform regular smoke transfusions back into the wiring harness? I think the smoke transfusions would be a lot easier.

                             Confused, Chuck Engles

Mike,

Good for you, sir. A lot of owners don’t understand that the wiring harness longevity can be vastly improved with proper maintenance.
