Dear Forum,

Is anyone familiar with the magazine article in Automobile about
the trip to Picos de Europa in Northern Spain?? I am keen to track it
down.

                        Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

Subject: [DeTomaso] Douglas Blain's 1971 car

Douglas Blain, a member of the de Tomaso mailing list for a number of years,
is sadly selling his 1971 de Tomaso Pantera, having shown it several times
to great acclaim and used it widely including a trip to the Picos de Europa
in Northern Spain which was covered thoroughly in The Automobile magazine.

It is a beautiful and very original example of an early chrome bumper
Pantera. Red with Black. Numbers matching Cleveland 351 and ZF transaxle.

This example stands out as being structurally excellent having spent much of
its life in the gentle Californian climate and showing only 35000 miles
covered in total. Complete recent service including new main bearings, all
fluids and air con recharge carried out.

A few practical improvements include relocating the spare tyre to the front,
freeing up rear luggage space and installation of discrete high intensity
driving lights for evening safety without the need to raise the headlights.
An increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a properly sorted and unmolested
early pre L, Tom Tjaarda designed De Tomaso Pantera. Douglas and his
co-owner were actually friends of Tom's and saw him in Torino shortly before
he died and Douglas was very friendly with Giampaolo Dallara, who of course
was responsible for the engineering.
