[DeTomaso] Covers on car

I keep seeing "new" ceramic car wax ads. Is this stuff real and does it protect better than older wax products against abrasion?

The next day when we pulled the cover it looked like someone took fine Sandpaper to the one side. My buddy Rich spent some time waxing it out. Should have left the cover off
