[DeTomaso] Speedometer

If you have owned the car from new it's unlikely the angle drive has been changed. What rear wheel tire combination are you running?

There are speedometers shops that can recalibrate your speedometer, also GPS units with a mechanical drive to eliminate the gearbox drive. but easiest would probably be to get an in-line mechanical gear driven ratio adapter, available in a wide range of ratios.

Check the stamped number on the drive.

There are four types of drives, two each of VDO and Borletti, 1210 revs
per mile and 1610 revs per mile.

Checking the parts catalog it seems there are really three types of
speedos, one KPH using the 1210 drive and both KPH and MPH speedos using
the 1610 drive.

The VDO drives have the ratio stamped on the end of the drive and
Borletti 50-0804 is 1610 and 50-0806 is 1210 revs per mile.
