[DeTomaso] Electric anyone?

My neighbor converted his 914 about 8-10 years ago.  Not based upon a Tesla.
It "looks" amazingly simple.  He took me for a drive.
Cool in its own way.  He still uses the transmission.

But as I understand the physics, you don't want or need several gears,
as the system is more efficient when at higher speeds of rotation.

He does use 2nd gear (mainly for highway speeds).  

IIRC, the first Tesla was single speed.
