[DeTomaso] Exhaust popping

Fred,

If you haven't rebuilt your carburetor in the last 5 years, then you need
to rebuild it.

If you are smelling gas... you have a serious problem. Check for leaks
before you have a fire...

The rubber on the accelerator pump on mine cracked and caused a fire.
Luckily I caught it with a Halon fire extinguisher before things got out of
control.

Rebuild it, re-tune it, and put it on your list to rebuild your
carburetor every 5 years.

Best regards,
-dt

When I back off of the accelerator,A the exhaust makes a popping
noise. It isn'tA a backfire in the carb. Wonder if the noise is
caused by way too rich setting resulting in fuel detonating in the
exhaust pipes. Car is running uneven and I can smell gas inside the
car. Do I need a carb rebuild or ??? Please email me. Thanks in
advance.A Fred Sent from Samsung tablet.
