[DeTomaso] Battery Cable Ends, OK to solder?

Good point - and, on my '69 XKE, after 160,000 miles, the side straps came loose from the shell of the radiator. But, clearly the loading was pretty severe. Fortunately the soldered tube sheet didn't ever leak. Or the soldered nipples for the hoses...

I thought a lot of radiators were soldered?

The strongest connection is a PROPER crimp. Stop and think about it

If only soldering a large cable in a closed lug, what is holding the
cable in?
Just the solder which is attached to the inside surface of the lug.
Solder is SOFT! Over time, vibration etc., will loosen the connection.
Nothing wrong with soldering a crimped connection but really
unnecessary.
Done properly crimping is the way to go.

I have some fairly heavy and nice looking battery cable ends. I
think
they can be crimped, but I'd like to just solder them. Any reason to
not solder onto the cables?
