[DeTomaso] Battery Cable Ends, OK to solder?

Ken,

I made up eight cables this weekend. Things I did.

Don't clamp to tight in the vice as it will suck the heat away.
Tin the wire and the connector.
Fill connector about half full of solder before putting wire in.
Use "liquid tape" (love this stuff) to repair the burnt insulation before using the heat shrink tubbing.

 The video Larry Finch shared shows the cable ends held in a vice with the mouth up, and soldered using solder slugs dropped into the mouth.  That appears to resolve the wicking issue:

A problem with soldering is that the solder will wick into the cable and make it stiff.
