Dear Forest,
Egad! You’re right. That is what Jim’s response said.
I was blinded the staggering brilliance of Larry’s ever so slightly incorrect analogy. Sigh. Well, now we’ve got that straightened out.
Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

The problem is that flow is to the pump not from the pump. Flow is from the block to the heater and back to the pump suction to maintain circulation.

Chuck,
Just using a logical mind (that I found). Hot water (blood) would flow from
the water pump (heart) to the heater core vale (tricuspid valve).

Subject: [DeTomaso] Techno question: Pantera heater hose connections
Dear Forum,
I never remember the "correct" connection of the heater hoses
from the block and water pump to the left and right heater tubes in the
central console.
It doesn't seem to be of practical significance, but I am at the
point with the new engine installation that now is a fortuitous time to do
it "correctly".
Does anyone know the factory connection of the engine block hose
and water pump hose to the right and left central heater tubes??
Warmest regards, Chuck Engles
