Dennis, I agree! One has to go beyond the wheel problem to find out what
happened. Is the market truly soft? Was it just a bad audience? Is the
American economy fixing to bottom out and this is a first hint? I wonder

I agree Mike,
Probably should have presented the car with the stock wheels and had the
aftermarket wheels in the gallery. However, it may not have made a
different, as serious bidders would not be swayed knowing the originals came
with the car.
Probably just a soft market and/or not the right group of bidders on that
day...
Extremely nice car though. Did any of the pre-L cars come with chrome air
cleaner covers?

I told the guy a few months ago that the vulgar wheels would turn off
potential buyers at a Bonham's auction, and he argued that the stock
wheels were included, so what's the big deal?
The big deal is that this car should have sold for at least low
estimate. It's the right color, right year, right condition to appeal
to a collector. But those wheels make it attractive to guys like (most
of) us, but not to the Amelia Island crowd.
