[DeTomaso] Stelvio pass in a Pantera, issues?

Yes, tires hitting the inner fender wells at full lock is a perfectly normal phenomenon. Perhaps the very early cars with 185/70 tires didn’t have the problem, but by the time the late 70s GTS had 225/50, it was a simple fact of life. It was, and is, no big deal at all.

Even on a wide body car the standard 285 front tires hits the inner
   fender with enough turns.

Thomas, it's more due to the fact that he's running 275/40-17 tires up
front on a narrow body car without flared fenders.

   Haha, Im with you Mike!
I brought this up with the small company that will travel together on
this years Italy trip and one owner says he cant make the turns. I
think that is due to the power assisted steering rack he has installed
   that has a limited stroke.
I think Ill send them to Austria direct and the rest of us take the
   pass.
   Too cool to miss.
