[DeTomaso] Ignition key Lock - tumbler housing

It was a pretty day so I decided to take the Pantera out to ‘warm the oil”. As fate would have it, I put the key in the ignition and the key would not turn. Long story short, did all the research and crawled up under the dash.

I have the ignition parts out of the car and the problem is in the ignition lock or tumbler housing. The mechanical part that key goes into is bad and not the electrical part of the switch. The center section of the lock ( where the key is inserted) is free to move in and out and has no spring pressure. The key will just not turn in the tumbler housing. I would like to find a replacement ignition Lock ( if that is the correct name) before trying to take the old one apart. Mike at The Pantera Place warns that disassembly of the tumbler body can be a little tricky.

I could not fine anything on just the tumbler housing in Bill Taylors Gear Head database, so if you have some information please let me know.

Thanks
