 The issue of a requirement for an adapter is dependant on whether the
box(or coil) supplies the signal or not. It really isn't related to the
distributor type. I use a Duraspark magnetic trigger distributor with the
Duraspark module and coil. No tach adapter is required because the Duraspark
module tach output terminal is designed to give the same output as a normal
ignition coil and points. The MSD doesn't do this, so the 8920 adapter is
required. Perhaps the Unilite box does have a tach terminal that provides
the same output as a normal ignition coil and ponts ?
