[DeTomaso] Burned Pantera 6417

     I’ve dealt with several Panteras that had caught fire from a dead electrical short under the dash. 
       It usually, but not always, started with a bad amp meter shorting out to ground which then takes out and burns all of the ground wiring in the harness from the gauges, to the small ground under the dash on the driver side, across the entire harness ground wires, fusing them to further feed short circuit parties, then takes out the harness through the rocker (right side) back to the alternator that burns to the ground (pun intended) which then sets the carb and fuel on fire and so on, and on.  
     If no one was in the car when the initial short occurred, this is the burn pattern I’ve seen several times. 
    I’ve had two owners who were driving their cars when the amp meter short occurred. Due to their quick thinking the we’re able to get pulled over, get the front trunk open to get to the battery and rip the cables off to at least stop the short. They then exhausted their fire extinguisher(s) to put out the actual flames before the whole car went up. 
    Been here many times to rule out the fatal short scenario. Just my nickel’s worth of personal experience. A VERY expensive disaster !!!
