I agree with Richard. The method used by quite a few guys to simply reangle their tailpipe tips is to heat up the junction between the pipe and muffler body (behind the chrome area so it doesn't turn blue) with a torch, then stick a pipe in the mis-angled tip and lift up. Doesn't take much force. Repeat as necessary until they match. Works well for correcting parking lot tip damage, too.
There are at least three different OEM ANSA exhausts and the differences are mostly inside. The std OEM ANSAs on our '72 L had big washers tack-welded across the perforated outlet pipes inside. On the advice of Jon Long of Nor-Cal Ps, I took a piece of pipe and shoved it down a (straight) tip until it hit a washer. A hammer on the pipe would then break the washer off and free up exhaust flow at zero cost. Seemed to help but were noticably noisier. Then I found the loose washers jingle- jangle inside the mufflers, until I finally got annoyed enough to cut the body open and empty out those loose pieces. Sometimes the washers broke off by themselves.
Another thing that works to free up exhaust flow on a street Pantera is in the inlet to the muffler. The OEM pipe leading inside is 1.875"OD. ANSA used multiple layers of pipe shims to close down the bigger muffler inlet to match it to the small std pipe. You can make up your own bigger pipe, cut out the filler pieces in the muffler inlet and the restrictor-washers, and you have a faux-GTS muffler. A real GTS has a 2.5"OD inlet pipe with a welded gussett-brace; my OEM ANSAs have this mod using 2.25"OD pipes and no gussett. I used this 'cause it was a size I had on hand and was easier to thread thru the area where our halfshafts run.

Dear Mike,

Short answer is that yes, it should be possible, but it might not match the other side when you’re done.
$$$$ That did occur to me.......
Stock mufflers and small-diameter tailpipes are VERY restrictive.
$$$$ Right, but they bolt right up to my Big Bore Headers and a well known Pantera personality told me that they look better and sound better than the Big Bore exhausts, which I also have sitting on a shelf.
So many people have switched to more effective exhaust systems that there are hundreds of stock tailpipes just lying around. It shouldn’t be too difficult to just find what you want rather than hacking up something that isn’t right. Ask and ye shall likely receive.
$$$$ That is a good point.
But I think you would be better off just getting better exhausts.....
$$$$ I think I will wrestle with the smaller problem of a right exhaust replacement rather than the larger proposition of a better exhaust. ....and Gerry Romack has shown that the Ansa mufflers can be gutted and modified for less boom and a bit more HP.
