The SD-7 is a O-Ring Fitting PAG oil filled R-134 compressor. The Pantera system is a Flare fitting with mineral oil in the original R-12 system. The SD-5 is R-12/R-134 compressor used with flare hose fittings and typically makes a easier conversion for the Pantera when the oil is changed to ester 100 compressor oil. The SD-7 PAG oil is not compatible with residual mineral oils left over in the original Pantera A/C System. BIG CAUTION HERE, DO NOT USE PAG OIL IN A FORMER MINERAL OIL A/C SYSTEM. It will 3X to decontaminate when it clogs with contamination with the reaction between the two oils.

Larry Finch, regarding the Sanden SD-7 A/C compressor I purchaes from
Summit Racing. The box says "Sanden" so I believe I have the genuine
unit. On my condenser, I managed to flush it completely and got goot
air flow, so have remounted it and have it back together. I pulled a
solid vacuum today and everything looks good. The issue now is how much
oil and R134A freon to add. Will call Billet on Monday for that. I was
told by a Summit tech that I needed to watch the gauges for temp and
pressure since the old R-12 method using the 'glass eye' was not used
on R134A. Trying to stay cool with the delay.

SD-5 is the original flare fitting compressor, the SD-7 is the one we
use for converting to 0-ring seals.

You used the term ?billet? when referring to your compressor. This
tells me you likely have a fancy, hot rod billet chromed compressor
which looks like a genuine Sanden but unless the market has changed
recently, is sadly a low quality china knock off. Since your first
compressor did actually fail, this leads me to even more firmly believe
you should not replace your compressor with another of the same.

I strongly suggest you seek out a genuine Sanden SD-7 compressor or
be prepared to revisit the compressor failure you are currently dealing
       with.

FWIW, Ted told me a good part of the 'profit' is in buying the factory
hydraulic cable crimper so as to reliably shorten the donor car's
too-long drive cable length and still have a 'factory-dependable'
connection. The kit included new window guides, all-stainless hardware
and plug-&-play electrics to stock door looms. It's also 8 lbs off each
door's weight and runs the glass all the way down a measured 3X faster,
without strain. Got mine at full price over 15 years ago and no
problems yet. No regrets, either.? J DeRyke
Rick Mitchell is still selling them.
I paid the same. Having seen both stock and the Vader units, I was
sold. So smooth and fast comparatively speaking. Plus, you don't have
to spend lots of time filing, grinding and modifying the stock
regulator and window assembly to go all the way down.
It is pricey. Kirk Evans told me how much profit margin he thought
there is in the kits, yet not critical of the actual product.

All I?m saying is they are not hard to reverse engineer if one is so

Hello old friends, what's going on in Monterey this weekend?
I saw the new DeTomaso at Quail. Pretty darn sleek.

       All,
Steal of the century IMHO, this is the first time an Si has been
offered for sale in the USA.

It?s my understanding that this car sold to the US seller from a
European dealer last year for considerably more money, plus he had to
ship it to the US, pay import taxes etc. So I think he took quite a
       haircut here.
Very well-bought I think. Probably because the buying public at large
is ignorant about how really different and special the Si cars are
       compared to all preceding models.
