[DeTomaso] Air cleaner suggestions

Hi, I thought it might be useful information related to air cleaners.

After installing new motor in my car was tuning everything on a chassis dyno; whatever we ware doing (changing jets, timing) there was a horrible looking deep f on power and torque between 4k and 5k rpm....cleaner installed was dropped base large diameter 2inch high element on Holley racing carburetor and 1 inch spacer below carburetor.
Finally, not sure why, we removed cleaner top and deep was totally gone, curve looked perfect!
Since I changed to smaller diameter but much taller kn filter, removed carburetor spacer to be able to maximize distances between carburetor and filter top plus use kn breathable filter top and power/torque curve is perfect, same as it was without the top.

Seems that resonance introduced by not enough space between carburetor and cleaner top can have a huge effect on engine performance; in my case deep was over 50hp and also A/F ratio in that range was all over the place; with tall cleaner all got perfect!

I am assuming this filter that I have had on the car for years is restrictive and am looking for suggestions on alternatives. Would like something polished aluminum, very unique, and nonrestrictive. I do not have the engine screen on car so height is not a factor. This air filter will go on the Road Demon carb. I have an Edelbrock polished intake manifold.
