[DeTomaso] Raising Pantera Awareness in.... India? (NPC)

Hi all

Long time list members may remember that back in the 90's, my e-mail
signature was "Raising Pantera Awareness in South Dakota", since I was
living there at the time with my '72 Pantera and felt rather alone and felt
that I needed to do something to raise visibility of the marque. How ironic
that if I thought that I was living in DeTomaso no-man's-land back then, I
would end up moving with the car to Nantes, France, when I changed my
signature to "Raising Pantera Awareness Across France", and then a few years
later ended up moving to Spain and decided for the more global "Raising
Pantera Awareness across Europe".

Anyway, I've been living in Europe for over 20 years now, I purchased a
GT5-S and sold my '72 pre-L, and I've had a fantastic experience. I met my
wife here, and have become completely integrated in everyday life on this
side of the pond and have enjoyed every minute. But it would appear that
that particular adventure is coming to an end, and another one is about to
begin. This time next week my wife and I will be in Chennai, India (the
former Madras, if that name sounds more familiar), as I've been offered a
promotion at work and will be spending at least the next three years in
Chennai. A lot of mixed emotions, and it wasn't an easy decision because I
truly enjoy life in Europe tremendously. This weekend Amaya and I attended a
supercar event in Santander, in the north of Spain, and it was effectively a
massive going away party with 150 cars in attendance including Roger and
Thelma Brotton in their Deauville, James and Anita McAlpine (wussed out and
left their Pantera home AGAIN in favor of the McLaren) and other good
friends. It was quite sad to say goodbye.

The Pantera will go into storage (I'll be asking for advice about that
separately), the Benelli Sei is up for sale (again, I'll send a note
separately) and we'll see what happens. Life is really odd sometimes - THIS
certainly wasn't something I foresaw when I was growing up?! But the
adventure will continue and I'll have to live the Pantera lifestyle through
this list, at least for a while.

Wish us luck - let the adventure begin!
