[DeTomaso] Caliper rebuild kits...

I run and have good success with Motul 600 (Dry BP 594F, wet BP 399F), but still change it out after every major event weekend.

I found it creates quite the pucker factor on my FA having brake fade where the pedal goes so long it engages the throttle; the more you brake the faster you go!

Those of you familiar with my Pantera (5533) which is now Steve's, will remember I rebuilt those calipers (all of them) for the 2012 SSCC. There should be no difficulty in getting them apart. Recall I created videos of the rebuilds as well.

The brakes have been driven hard during racing and are probably due to be rebuilt again. I only ran ATE 200 (amber) or Super Blue brake fluid and changed it every year I raced. I don't imagine they will be anywhere near the difficulty I had in getting them apart.

If Steve can find o-rings, it's probably all he'll need.

Steve,
The rear caliper piston must be clocked at 45 degrees for proper assembly and then clocked back to vertical for use. Don't force it or it will break. Didn't I give you a set of spare front calipers? I'd recommend getting full rebuild kits or see if you could do exchanges with Larry so you have a spare set at least for the fronts.

I'll see if I can find the videos.
Asa

Thanks....unfortunately we are just testing today. So I need it today.
   I
will overnight some for tomorrow as well (Larry Stock) already found
   me....
But the specs I have say 42.85 mm and 33.96 mm pistons. I (Google)
   have
found other modern vehicles with the same size pistons. What are the
chances I can piece some o-rings together???

Pantera vendors carry them naturally, and can overnight a set to you so
   you
don't have to be on the trailer...in fact many sell reman calipers
   which
would be faster to install, and then you could rebuild yours in a
   leisurely
manner and have them as spares....
