Off subject, but related.   The thought is the alternator on the drive shaft
"helps" reduce load on the engine so more HP can be used for acceleration.

Has anyone every wired the alternator charging to be inversely proportional
to throttle position.   I first thought of a rheostat that would reduce
charging at full throttle and allow full charging at light/off throttle.   I
then recalled the manifold vacuum switch/relay that was installed on 70's
police pursuit cars that cut the AC compressor off at low manifold (under
acceleration).   the same thing could be used on the alternator.
