[DeTomaso] ZF on eBay ??

And it sucks up all the parasitic losses along the way between crank and 
halfshaft.
And it has to charge over a crazy wide speed range rather than the tight 
band  in which a race engine runs.
I know there must be some sense to it, but....
A larger alternator pulley to bring the 5000 - 7000 rpm race engine band 
down to the 1500 - 2000 rpm the alternator likes would make more sense 
to me.
